ST-3®

ST-3®

ST-3 is a resilient thread sealant for straight or tapered threaded fasteners. A widely-used, Automotive Approved product, ST-3 immediately forms a custom-fitting, elastic gasket right in the threads, that prevents the passage of most fuels and chemicals, and helps keep joints tight (even under severe vibration).

Description:

  • ND Industries can supply ST-3 as a pre-applied thread sealant or in bulk liquid or bottle form as a user-applied formula.
  • ST-3 products are available in formulas to compete with 3M® Scotch-Grip®, Loctite® Vibra-Seal® and PRECOTE®.

Applications:

  • ST-3 is used in a broad range of sealing and locking applications, including:
    • Filler Plugs
    • Bearing Adjuster Nuts
    • Gauges & Sensors
    • Cable Connectors
    • Pipe Fittings & Plugs
    • Screws for Plastic Assembly
    • Hydraulic Fittings
    • and More.

Features:

Low Prevailing On Torque: ST-3 can be pre-applied to virtually any configuration and quantity of parts. Pre-Applied ST-3 is less expensive than applying bottled thread sealing compounds or tapes at the point of assembly.

Offers Multiple Reuses: Parts coated with ST-3 can be easily adjusted, removed, and reused.

Features (Continued):

Saves Money: ST-3 can be pre-applied to virtually any configuration and quantity of parts. Pre-Applied ST-3 is less expensive than applying bottled thread sealing compounds or tapes at the point of assembly.

Resists Vibration, Remains Elastic: Though ST-3 is used to seal fasteners, it also helps to lock threads by resisting vibration. It is highly resistant to thermal shock and remains elastic through a wide range of temperatures.

    Safe: ST-3 is non-hazardous and non-flammable.

User-Applied: ST-3 is available in many grades for use on your band applicator machinery, flow coat, or tumbling system.

Unaffected By Chemicals: ST-3 protects against corrosion from brine, chlorine, acids, and alkalis. It effectively resists natural gas, butane, propane, motor fluids, and other chemicals.

Particular formulations of ST-3® meet or exceed the performance requirements of the following specifications:
